AA Euro Healthcare is currently recruiting on behalf of our client for a Safeguarding Officer based in Co. Wicklow.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced safeguarding professional to join a leading disability service provider committed to promoting the rights, safety, and wellbeing of individuals with intellectual disabilities.

About the Role

The Safeguarding Officer will play a key role in promoting a culture of safeguarding throughout the organisation, ensuring that service users are protected from abuse, neglect, and harm. The successful candidate will provide guidance, support, and oversight to services while ensuring compliance with safeguarding policies, HIQA regulations, and national safeguarding standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support safeguarding practices across services.
  • Provide advice and guidance to managers and staff on safeguarding concerns.
  • Coordinate safeguarding investigations and maintain accurate records.
  • Ensure safeguarding procedures are implemented in line with organisational policies and national guidelines.
  • Deliver safeguarding training and awareness programmes.
  • Monitor safeguarding trends and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Liaise with service users, families, multidisciplinary teams, and external agencies.
  • Promote a person-centred approach that upholds the rights, dignity, and autonomy of individuals supported by the organisation.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant third-level qualification in Social Care, Social Work, Nursing, Psychology, or a related discipline.
  • CORU Registered (proof of application)
  • Significant experience working within health, social care, disability, or safeguarding services.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, HIQA standards, and national safeguarding policies.
  • Experience managing safeguarding concerns, investigations, and risk assessments.
  • Excellent communication, report-writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Full clean driving licence and access to transport.
